Blean Woods

Birdwatchers have enjoyed a delightful bonus this winter in the form of a waxwing invasion. Resident below the Arctic Circle, the berry crop which forms their winter diet has failed, causing them to make the long flight to Blean and district to search for food. A pleasing range of birds are now in song. Wood ants are stirring from their slumbers to congregate on the tops of their large distinctive nests in Blean Woods.
